Metropolitan Plumbing supply a custom solar solution based on the customer's requirements. We can supply a wide range of products, including the Rheem Premier range which includes an electric boost if required whilst you get 'free hot water from the sun.'
The South Australian Government's Solar Hot Water Rebate Scheme provides a rebate of $500 on the cost of a new solar or electric heat pump water heater system installed on or after 1st July 2008. The Australian government also offers $1000, which means you could save $1500.
Some conditions apply. The Rebate Schemes target low income households to help them comply with the Performance Standards for Domestic Water Heater Installations, effective from the 1st July 2008. These new standards aim to increase the uptake of high-efficiency gas, solar and electric heat pump water heaters. For further information on both schemes visit this government energy website.
The Premier range of solar water heaters have been specially developed for areas subject to frost conditions as well as poor water quality. Heat transfer fluid is circulated through the solar collectors transferring heat into the storage cylinder using heat exchange design.
The heat transfer fluid has a frost tolerance to temperatures as low as minus 27°C and also protects the collector waterways from the harmful effects of calcium build up found in some water supplies. The booster element can be controlled with an automatic timer (available separately) or a simple on/off switch. Available in Hiline (tank and collectors on the roof) and Loline (tank at ground level) versions, the Premier range offers the ultimate in solar water heating technology.
